The New Product of the Year Awards celebrate the most unique new food and beverage products coming out of Africa's food and beverage industry. Focus is placed on the unique application of nutrition and health, packaging, ingredients, processing technologies and labelling

Please note that you can apply for as many products as possible. For each product, you must fill this form separately. The new product must be manufactured in Africa and must have been launched from January 1, 2018 to date. Apart from entirely new products, products with redesigned formulations or packaging or new packaging options shall also be considered. Only food manufacturers can apply for this category.

No direct applications are allowed. Ensure your entry covers all the important elements of your product, while ensuring that you cover adequately the important elements of formulation, nutrition and packaging excellence when you fill this form to ensure your entry can qualify for these unique categories as well.

What was the idea behind the new product innovation? Is the product first-to-market in your market? What makes your product unique from the competition?
Provide any unique processing technologies used in the new product. Is the process technology and unique to your industry in the region? If it is not new, are there any modifications you have made to the process, that are unique to your product in the region? Does your product make use of unique ingredient(s) not used before in your industry in the region.
Packaging is key to new product development, while sustainability is a key attribute that is being focused on by the food industry. Meeting consumer needs: How does the new product's package meet new market and consumer needs for convenience and on-the-go trends? Does your new product have any unique labeling and branding that resonates with current consumer needs? What is the target market, and how have you positioned the product in the marketplace to meet its targeted consumer market? Sustainability: To what extent does the packaging meet sustainability goals of the company and the environment?
Explain in detail how the new product meets the need by consumers for healthier, more nutritious and wholesome food products. Is the product targeting a specific consumer market, and how does the product differ with similar products in the marketplace in its nutritional profile?
